Jenks XC in the news again!

Attached are two wonderfully written articles by our press reporter Doug Eaton, from last weeks meet at Bishop Kelley
1. Jenks girls win Bishop Kelley meet at ORU

2. Jenks boys complete trifecta win at big Dallas meet.

Unfortunately the Jenks Cross Country runners’ hard work, dedication and numerous achievements, tend to get over-shadowed by other sports, so we truly appreciate Doug’s support and continued efforts. Thank you Doug.

As always, the full results can be found here

Jenks Girls XC stomp the opposition at MSSU Stampede

Last weekend, both the Varsity and Junior Varsity XC girls teams travelled to Joplin to run in the annual M.S.S.U. Southern Stampede.
Against some very tough competition, they all ran exceptionally well and the Jenks Varsity girls came 4th over all and the Junior Varsity came 1st !!
The full results are available here

Also attached is a photo of the participants and their very proud coaches.

Jenks steals the day at Holland Hall

Last weekend, while the Jenks Girls XC Varsity and JV teams were stomping the opposition at the M.S.S.U. Stampede in Joplin, the boys XC team and the Middle School team decided to steal the show at the Holland Hall Invitational.
The Jenks “White” XC team came in first place and the “Maroon” XC team came in 2nd, both with some outstanding times!
Then, to complete the day, the JV Boys team got 1st place, the Middle School girls team got 3rd and the Middle School boys took 4th. Once again some incredible individual 1st places and stacks of personal bests.
Some results are on the attached file and as always ALL the results are available here
Congrats to you all. GO JENKS XC!!!

Jenks Half Marathon 2013

A date for your calendar is the Jenks Half Marathon beginning at 8.00am on Saturday November 9th 2013. This is one of Oklahoma’s oldest races and is organized by our friends at Tulsa Runner and greatly benefits your Jenks XC team.

This will be the 34th year and we will be using the same course as last year, starting just north of the Jenks HS track and finishing with three quarters of a lap around the track. The course map is attached. We are expecting 200-250 runners from all over U.S.A !!!
There will also be a 5K and will start @ 8.15am and will also finish on the Jenks HS track.
If Jenks XC runners / parents / siblings wish to run in either race, they need to register themselves HERE
Course marshals
We need 4 / 5 adults to help us with this.

Keep Calm and sell flowers!!

In the next couple of months, many of us go and buy plants to brighten up our yards during the winter months, we ask, that instead of going to a large retail store, please buy your plants from one of our Cross Country runners to help support their team this season. We did this with the Track & Field team last season and it was a great success! Some students even helped to plant them for their families / customers!
In case you didn’t get one at the “Start-line dinner”, attached is the front and back of the order form/flier.
All order forms AND monies for Freshman and JHS must be handed to the Booster Club members at the HS Track on 18th & 19th September from 1.30pm – 3.30pm.
JMS will hand theirs to Coach McKenzie.
The plants for all students (including JMS) will be distributed at the JHS Track on Wednesday October 2nd. They must be collected on that day.
To make it a bit more fun we are having a competition
JHS Boys vs JHS girls sales
JMS boys vs JMS girls sales
Single overall highest seller boy and single overall highest seller boy
Checks are made payable to “Jenks XC Booster Club”
Thank you and good luck selling!ImageImage

Sonic Card Fundraiser

For those of you who attended either the JMS meeting or the “Start-line” dinner you were given the opportunity to purchase Sonic discount cards as a fundraiser for the XC Booster Club.

They are $5 each and the XC Booster Club receives 100% back from Sonic. Some folks choose to sell them to friends, neighbors and work colleagues, others choose to use them for their own family.
If you would like to purchase some additional cards, or have questions regarding this fundraiser, please contact Kim Buker
